Hello everyone and welcome back to the channel for newer reviewers of the channel. I am a former resident of Massachusetts and as such I do like to cover some of the state's stories to highlight how happy I am not to live there anymore. Today's video is an example of how the government there AKA gun control tyrant Maura Healey who controlled guns in the state even before she was governor. Don't ask me how that works, but that's what happened, has been working to squash opposition to the gun control bill that got shoved through the state legislature over a period of only 24 hours earlier this year before text of the bill was even made available to the public because that's how they do things there. That along with the newest antics I'm about to tell you, paints a pretty good picture of Massachusetts going business as usual.
So all of this stems back to the State's Brew and Response bill H 48 85, which is so horrendous that even the Massachusetts Association of Chiefs of Police came out in unanimous opposition to the bill and that was just the first version, not the revised worst version that got passed outside of the public eye. The law is just so awful that I will link you my video on it here and in the description because I don't have enough time in this one to tell you everything that is wrong with it. But the quickest summary is that the Bill now law amounts to a near total semi-auto ban and that's basically all you need to know. When the cops came out against the bill, some of them did this on social media and on news interviews, good for them. Now, the state's Ethics Commission is going after at least one of them saying that he violated the state's conflict of interest law by publicly opposing and criticizing H 48 85 according to the Boston Herald, where police Chief Sean Corer violated the law by detailing the constitutional problems with the bill on the police department's official Facebook page, while also encouraging residents to contact their lawmakers.
Terrible. Their angle here is that the cops are responsible for approving gun licenses and creating and implementing the training for those licenses as well as helping to inform lawmakers about public safety. So the state is calling him an appointed policymaking employee, but before I tell you their argument to how they're using it to silence him, this video is brought to you with the help of attorneys on retainer, the people that you want in your corner. If you ever find yourself in a self-defense incident, these folks are actual attorneys whose entire job it is to give you legal advice and represent you if you use your gun and self-defense. They are not an insurance company, so their only requirements are that the incident happened after you signed up and that you reasonably acted within good faith. Honestly, it doesn't even matter if you're in the state of Massachusetts where everything is illegal, including self-defense.
They are not there to protect their own buts with fine print or liability, and you are not sent through an insurance adjuster before a lawyer even looks at your case, which can happen with some of the insurance companies. They cover everything from felonies to misdemeanors and even bail bonds. So to switch over from your existing self-defense coverage today, head on over to my link down in the description and use code Liberty Doll to get $50 off your individual signup. Now, back to the story. According to the commission as an appointed policymaking employee, Kreer was allowed to use public resources, including his title, staff time, and the department's Facebook page to provide factual information that could help legislators make informed fact-based decisions about the proposal. The chief was also allowed to state his opinion on the bill about the gun laws effect on public safety in where and on the department's social media channels, so long as they were based on objectively verifiable facts and not on personal opposition to increase gun control.
The commission said, but when it came down to it and he used those platforms to inform the public that the bill was unconstitutional, well, that's when the state had a problem saying that he used his official position and public resources to drum up support against the law while it was still being rewritten on Beacon Hill. Specifically, they are pointing to four Facebook posts that he allegedly had drafted by an admin staffer. These posts had choice words for state legislators calling the bill an act of treason as per the Boston Herald, a post from July, 2023, which was signed where PD took aim at the bill's. Constitutionality criticized the creation of gun-free zones and encouraged residents to reach out to gun rights groups to oppose the measure according to the state's Ethics Commission. Later the same summer Kreer had the Weir Police Department administrative office post a Facebook three more times at statements in opposition to legislation in the house and a similar proposal in the Senate.
Regulators said the four posts were shared several thousand times. These statements encouraged people to advocate against the bills, which they characterized as treasonous and seditious and referenced the opposition of a private organization of law enforcement officials of which Crevier was a member. The commission said, but at least the state surprised me by not choosing to sanction Crevier. Though I suspect that that's because they knew it would only drum up more support for him in his positions and against the law. Instead, they used it as a public education opportunity. They're calling it where they penned a public letter to call him out in front of everyone ER's actions as police chief and having the four anti-gun law reform statements drafted and posted on the WPD Facebook page were however political activity prohibited by the conflict of interest law because the statements included his personal opinions on matters outside of the wpds purview such as the legality and constitutionality of the proposed gun law reforms and whether the proposed legislation was treasonous or seditious.
The commission said ER's actions regarding these statements were also prohibited by the conflict of interest law because in causing them to be publicly posted on the WPD Facebook page, he used public resources to air his personal views on gun control as well as the views of the private organization of law enforcement officials. In short, you use the WPD Facebook page to rally political opposition to the bill based on your personal view that it would improperly limit your and other gun owner's Second Amendment rights. Now, should he have posted this stuff on the official police page? Well, that is debatable. On the one hand, probably not a good place for activism on the other. Cops did swear to uphold the constitution, though some of them seem to have forgotten that, and I think that letting people know about proposed laws that are unconstitutional and would be enforced by the police fall under that purview as does informing citizens of their legal rights and how to defend those rights.
Plus something tells me that if he'd come out in support of the law, this state would've had zero issue with him using public resources to do it. Crier gave a statement to the Harold standing by his previous statements and said that the gun laws don't actually do anything to address gun violence. They embolden criminals and punish current and future law abiding gun owners and he's correct. Honestly, I wish that there were more law enforcement officials that stood up to these kinds of bills so publicly to the point that they're getting ethics committee letters. This move by the State's Ethics Committee comes right on the heels of a new pro-gun group organizing, getting signatures to turn this bill into a ballot initiative to hopefully get it cut legally and lawfully going to the big E, which is a big regional fair to try and get signatures and Healy pressuring the biggie to kick the group off the property and then call the cops several times to try and get them kicked out of the area in front of the property after the cops said that they were perfectly legal and within their rights.
But I guess petty tyrants going to petty tyrant. Alright folks, that is it for this video and this little foray back into the dreadful land of Massachusetts. You guys know the drill for all of the algorithm things and any folks who watch this channel. If you are in Florida in the hurricanes path, good luck. I am also in the path, but obviously not in Florida, a couple states away over in South Carolina. Apparently they're expecting like 18 feet of flooding in the local river. I don't know. Hopefully I have power and can actually post these videos to you when I'm supposed to be posting them. Wish us all luck. Anyways, the drill for all of the agro things and as always, thanks for tuning in and happy shooting.
