Road Course What is the Castle Doctrine or Stand Your Ground LawsOkay. Castle Doctrine, stand Your Ground Laws. No Duty to Retreat. All means the same thing. Many states, although not all states, have a rule of law that as long as you are lawfully in the location, you are under no duty to retreat from unlawful or illegal force being used against you. And while people can debate the wisdom of that policy, it's based upon old common law principles that why should a person who is lawfully in that location have to flee or yield to unlawful force being used against them. So that is in essence what the castle dock and stand your ground laws are. No duty to retreat laws are. My name is William Kirk. The channel is Washington Gun Law, and you have been watching a road course.
