Carry a Cheap Gun(00:00):

Hickok 45 here. Welcome to the Hickok 45 Talks Channel. Yes, I'm still over here in the woods with my pine trees. Got something else to talk to you about. I'll try not to be so long as I am in some of these talks videos, but I saw another comment about, oh, I guess it was a high point or some gun that somebody was advising that you really want to carry that. That's the gun you want. Because if you get into the trouble shooting or whatever, it's going to end up in a police locker and you don't want to lose a good gun. That thing, well, I've talked about it before, but I'm going to talk about it again. Document it here on the Talks channel, okay?

(00:45):

As I have said before, you want to carry the best gun you can, alright? It's my opinion, you'll share your opinions on this. Do not carry a high point or whatever gun you want to name might be the best gun for you to carry. It might be the one you can afford or whatever it is. That's fine. But don't downgrade your firearm with that in mind. That is my advice. I am pretty adamant about that. I'm not big on giving advice, telling people what to do. I do what I do. I know what I am going to do. I am not going to tell you what to do in this matter. I will advise you. I would advise you not to think that way, okay? I really would. Unless you just have difficulty scraping two dimes together, and that's about the only case. Let's use some common sense, some logic.

(01:48):

First of all, one of the most important things to know about, if you haven't studied this, and I have read about it quite a lot in various magazine articles and seen videos on it. I don't know what the number is now, but if you're even in a justified shooting, a righteous shooting, self-defense shooting, you can expect to spend 50 to a hundred thousand. Those are some of the most recent figures that I've seen. 50 to a hundred thousand dollars in lawyer's fees to keep yourself out of jail if it's not a righteous shooting. If you did something stupid that may not keep you out of jail, but even if you did the right thing, the circumstances were justifiable, you're going to face probably civil suits. You're going to need some good lawyers, and it's usually a mess. Ask Masa and anybody who serves as a expert witness in those trials, or just ask your lawyer buddies, whoever expect to spend some serious money.

(03:05):

Now, it could be, it doesn't happen, but in most cases, that's what ends up happening. Alright? It doesn't matter how, what kind of record the low life had that tried to kill you, you're going to end up being sued by his family. He was such a sweet boy. He didn't mean it. You reacted too quickly. He didn't mean to harm you and all that kind of thing, and you're going to need some good lawyer work, and I'm not an expert on it. I just know I have seen the opinions of many people who are experts on it. So the cost of that firearm, whether it's $500, $200, $2,000 is going to be a minor, minor issue. So I would advise you to get the best firearm for you that you can afford and be done with it, and not worry about ending up in a police locker if it ends up in a police locker evidence room for the next 20 years. That's the least of your worries and the least of your expenses. Okay? That's about all I got to say about that. I guess I'm done. Life is good.
