What Actually is Lethal (Deadly) Force William Kirk, Washington Gun LawWhat actually is lethal force? What is lethal force? Well, every state's going to probably define it in some unique fashion, but it's not going to be too dissimilar from each other. Deadly force is going to be the use of any force through the use of a firearms or any other instrument, which is reasonably likely to cause death or serious bodily injury. And when it comes to the use of deadly weapons, the use of a firearm will always, always, always be analyzed as the use of deadly force. But there are other items out there that are not designed to be deadly weapons, but when we choose to use 'em that way are really effective. The kitchen knife, the baseball bat, and actually the automobile. So anytime we're inflicting force that is substantially or likely to cause death or serious bodily injury, the law will define that as deadly or lethal force. My name is William Kirk.
