Shooting Range Etiquette 101 | Frontier Justice by MarkI am Mark, the Range Safety Officer here at Frontier Justice, your premier firearms destination here in the Lee Summit. I wanted to talk a little bit about range safety and etiquette today. Biggest thing about etiquette out here on the ranges, this shooting stall is your home when you're out here. Okay, so when you come out here, the ranges first thing you want to do, bring all your firearms straight up here to the line. Everything you get, you're going to get everything out of your bags right here on the line. Nothing goes behind the firing line. We don't want guns walking back and forth. All the range safety rules are right here on the stall next to you. Take the time to read them. They're important. You know these rules. You'll know how to be safe out here.

Some of the biggest things you want to do when you get your guns out, you got your empty bags and stuff. Don't leave 'em laying out here on the floor for people to trip over. Keep 'em tucked up inside your stall or move 'em all the way to the back where they're out of people's way. Okay? When you're out here shooting your firearms always pointed down range, okay? Think about everybody else out here with you. You don't want to be pointing a gun at anybody. It's pointing down. Range your fingers off the trigger until you're ready to pull that trigger. If you're not shooting, it's empty and it's sitting on the stall desk right here, okay?

Be aware of some of the commands that the range safety officer is going to give you. You follow all the commands of the range Safety officer, whether it's me or one of the other guys working, okay? When the officer calls ceases fire, you stop shooting immediately, make your firearm safe, set it down on the deck, and you step back away from the shooting stall. You stay away from your firearm until you're told to commence firing again. That's when it's safe to go back and reload and shoot. Okay? Interaction with other shooters out here on the range. Not everybody wants to be disturbed. Some people are out here doing their own target shooting. They got it in their own mind. What they're doing. They don't want you peeking around the corner at 'em. They want offering your own advice, okay? If they ask you a question, that's different, but don't go giving people unsolicited advice unless they're being unsafe. If that's the case, you can say something to 'em. If they don't take your advice. Come get the Range Safety officer. We'll come and have a chat with them. One thing that I always tell people is there's no right, wrong out here on the ranch. They're safe and unsafe.

That safety is our primary purpose out here. Okay? One thing you want to remember, when it's time to go, you're going to pack up all your stuff and your bags and everything. Leave it better than when you got here, okay? If your brass is all over the floor, take a minute, grab the squeegee. You can push it straight forward, out in front of the line, or back into the trough, back here behind the line. That's what it's there for. Pick up your trash. Take your trash with you. Don't leave your target hanging out here on the hangers. Go ahead and take those two. Somebody else left their stuff. Take a minute. Pick their stuff up too. Okay? Again, don't hesitate to ask questions. If you have a problem or you got a question about how we do things out here on our range, grab the Ring Safety officer and say, Hey, it's my first time here. Help me out a little bit. We'll be more than happy to work with. Have fun. Be safe.
