Last year in 2023, there is an estimated 44,000 guns stolen from cars in the us. So I want to take a moment and I guess do a public service announcement on how you can make sure that does not happen. Because ultimately what thieves are looking for is they're targeting places where you can't bring a gun in. As we've seen over the last year, there's a lot more of these places. There's a lot more gun-free zones, and because of that, they're targeting these things, especially sporting events and arenas, concerts, that sort of thing, where there's just thousands of cars in one giant parking lot and they're not obviously breaking into every car. What they're doing is they're specifically targeting cars that has some sort of signage on them saying, Hey, I probably have a gun in my car because I clearly carry one. I just couldn't carry one into this place that I parked my car at.
Get that sticker off your car
So if you have a sticker, let's say that has your favorite gun manufacturer on it, or if you have a sticker that says something about being Pro Second Amendment or that you shoot first, ask questions later, anything that says anything about guns at all, that is on your car, your car is getting broken into because there's a high probability there is a gun in there. Because if you typically carry a gun on you and you go somewhere where there's a gun free zone, what are you going to do? You're going to leave it in your car. So I want to kind of take a moment and just say a couple things about that. One, get that sticker off your car immediately. You are essentially putting a target on your car, and chances are if you're parked in a gun-free zone, your gun is probably in your car, and then they see that sticker and it's kind of a win-win for them.
Car safe
They don't have to break into a bunch of cars, they just got to break into that one, and they'll target cars specifically with those types of stickers on them. The other piece is, I fully understand there's times that you cannot walk into a place with a gun and you always have a gun on you. I always have a gun on me. Chances are I have two of them on me. But there are places that you just simply can't go with a gun on you and you have no choice but to leave it in the car. I have a car safe in my vehicle. There's one I recommend. I'm going to put the link below here, max Safe, make some great ones. That's not what this video is about. What it is about is that if you're going to leave your gun in your car, get a safe for your automobile every now and then we'll get these emails from the Neighborhood association saying, oh, there's so many cars getting broken into this month or such and such in our neighborhood.
And just that alone makes you, you're a target. Leave your car outside, leave a gun in there. Come on now. Now you're a target. You put that sticker on there. Now you're a big target. So I want to take a moment. Just say, take the stickers off. Take the stickers off. I know they're fun and they're clever. I like to advertise things I love too. But take the sticker off. It makes you a target. And if you're going to leave your gun in your car, get a gun safe. Get it was safe for your car that's mounted into the metal of the car and locked in the trunk or locked in the glove box, that kind of thing. So there you go. Any thoughts or insight?
